Meaning of Yoga

The relationship between a word and its meaning is eternal.
Vedic seers used the word 'Yoga' to denote the connection between verses and words.

Similarly, various Vedic texts including the Sutras, the Brahmanas and the Aranyakas have used the word 'Yoga' in the sense of conjunction or connection.

Aim of Yoga
We all know what pain is.
Prehistoric humans felt the pain as they were scorched by heat and lashed by the vagaries of nature.
Modern humans also feel pain as they are scorched by stress and strain afflicting their body and mind.

Objective of Yoga

The objective of yoga is to weaken the five afflictions - ignorance, egoism, attachment, aversion and fear of death.
These are the five pains, the five-fold ties that bind us.
Ignorance is the fertile soil, which bears an abundant crop of the other four afflictions.

Benefits of Yoga

Yoga is a holistic health science that has been practiced since time immemorial.
According to classical yoga texts, the aim of yoga is Samadhi.
To achieve Samadhi, one should strive to unite mind, body and spirit.
